Launch of PwC's low-code platform ‘Digital Maker’ at CIIE 2021

Hong Kong, 26 November 2021 - PwC China launched its enterprise-level low-code development platform - Digital Maker, at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

In the outline of the Government's 14th Five-Year Plan, digitalisation is regarded as an important strategic means to promote economic and social development. This strategy is designed to "accelerate the development of digitalisation and build a digital China". The strategic goal and implementation of digitalisation is undergoing unprecedented enhancement. The rapid development of the digital economy has also become the core pillar of economic growth. At the same time, companies looking to modernise businesses by raising their digital capabilities and skill building are helping enterprises adapt quickly to changing business models.

At the CIIE, PwC China unveiled its plan for “The New Equation” strategy and is committed to support and contribute to China’s major national strategies to drive towards an enduring outcome of continued growth and development for its economy. To help clients seize new opportunities in China’s new development paradigm, PwC China will continue its strategy of delivering sustained outcomes across the value chain by prioritising investments in five key strategic areas that are critical for clients to succeed in today’s dynamic environment.

The low-code development platform, Digital Maker, one of our digital products, helps enterprises speed up the deployment of digital applications and become a core driver of digitalisation. Kelvin Tam, PwC China Chief Product Officer, said: “Digital Maker is another trustworthy and secure digital product and solution created by PwC. It simplifies the development of complex applications and enables enterprises to focus more on digitalising their businesses and form data-driven insights. This helps enterprises resolve common pain points such as long development cycles to build software faster and accelerate digital transformation outcomes.” Digital Maker empowers enterprises to build a sustainable digital system with safely encrypted data. This helps them incorporate both legacy and new systems as well as shortened delivery times.

Digital Maker is a low-code platform developed and used by PwC China. Digital Maker has the characteristics of application development visualisation, componentisation of functional modules and automation of application release and deployment, whilst being flexible, efficient, secure and ready to scale applications.

Meeting employee needs is important for an enterprise to develop a sustainable business strategy. As a user of the platform to develop their own in-house applications. PwC have found that the use of Digital Maker helps reduce development workload compared to the traditional methodology, while meeting rising digital demands. The goal is to help enterprises rapidly build agile digital capabilities to achieve sustainable business innovation and strengthen employee empowerment through simplified workflow processes and reduced development efforts.
